Alaska’s television station KTUU Channel 2 News reported on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 that Governor “hastily called a press conference to announce … her administration did in fact make calls regarding Alaska State Trooper Mike Wooten.” The press conference came in the wake of revelations that one of the calls between a Palin staffer, Frank Bailey, and Trooper Lt. Rodney Dial, had been recorded. During the call, Bailey expressed the Palins’ frustration to Dial that Trooper Wooten was still employed. Bailey also mentions in the call that Governor Palin is not happy Monegan would not terminate Wooten.
Further, “Palin told the Channel 2 News that Monegan was not terminated over his refusal to terminate Wooten.” No explanation was given by Governor Palin as to the reason for Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan’s termination.
Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg states that he, Governor Palin’s husband Todd Palin, and former Palin Chief of Staff Mike Tibbles also contacted Commissioner Monegan in regards to terminating Trooper Mike Wooten. ~ Sarah Palin Truth Squad
