‘We’re Going to Court’: Sarah Palin to Face Legal Battle over Grandson

Levi Johnston demands access to baby Tripp and accuses the former VP candidate of turning her daughter against him

Relations between the former US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston, the teenager who almost became her son-in-law, have deteriorated to the point that a court battle is now inevitable, he has told the Guardian.

The dispute is over Tripp, his infant son by Palin’s eldest daughter, Bristol: he claims Palin is preventing him from seeing the child.

“I’m up to the point where I can’t see my kid again. I’m done. I’m sure we’ll end up in court. We’re definitely going to court,” Johnston, 19, said in an interview in Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.

Johnston was propelled to national and international media attention last September when it was revealed he had made Bristol, who was then 17 and still at school, pregnant.

Rachel Maddow Explores Palin’s Secret Small Business “Pie Spy” (VIDEO)

Sarah Palin’s financial records were released on Tuesday, and they have many curious as to the small business she formed in her final months in office called “Pie Spy.” Pie Spy is described as a business involving “Services for the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities” in documents filed with the Alaska Department of Commerce, but other than that we know nothing about it.

Kent Jones on The Rachel Maddow Show decided to help fill the void with some rampant speculation.

Iowa Republicans Wince at Sarah Palin’s $100K Speaking Fee

A conservative Iowa group’s effort to lure Sarah Palin to its banquet next month has had an unintended effect: Rather than exciting conservatives about the prospect of a visit from the former Alaska governor, the group’s plan to raise a six-figure sum to bring her to the state has GOP activists recoiling at the thought of paying to land a politician’s speaking appearance.

The Iowa Family Policy Center’s effort to cobble together $100,000 for Palin would represent a striking departure from customary practice in the first-in-the-nation state, these Republicans say, noting that a generation of White House hopefuls has paid their own way to boost their party and presidential ambitions.

Sarah Palin Will Not Run for President in 2012

2012 GOP Presidential matchups between Sarah Palin/Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin/Mitt Romney.

…or so, at least, I predict. And I’m putting my money–and stomach–where my keyboard is, as Nate and I made a two-part bet. We wagered a steak dinner on whether or not Sarah Palin runs for the Republican nomination, me betting she doesn’t. We have a second wager on whether she wins the nomination, with me giving Nate 3:1 odds on a cash bet of undisclosed amount that she doesn’t. (The second bet is not conditional on the first: If Palin doesn’t run at all, I win the steak and the cash.)

Alaskans Await Progress on Palin Pipeline Plan

Strategic projects 30 years in the making - proposed routes for the Alaska and MacKenzie natural gas pipelines to western Canada and the lower 48 U.S. states

Strategic projects 30 years in the making - proposed routes for the Alaska and MacKenzie natural gas pipelines to western Canada and the lower 48 U.S. states

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Sarah Palin hit the vice presidential campaign trail last year and touted what Alaska could provide for the rest of America — a natural gas pipeline to help lead the country to energy independence.

When a pipeline might be built remains a giant question for Alaskans who need the project to support a vulnerable economy and for the Lower 48 states that need the gas. But an expert who spent more than 25 years in the Alaska Department of Revenue says it may never happen under Palin’s plan.

Alaska’s North Slope Mapped for Polar Bears Habitat

Alaskan habitat mapped for polar bears.

Alaskan habitat mapped for polar bears.

A vast swath of icy sea, barrier islands and coastal land on Alaska’s oil-rich North Slope will be granted special protection because of its importance to the threatened polar bear, under a proposal released this week by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

The agency proposes that 518,000 sq km of coastline and shallow Arctic Ocean waters be designated as critical habitat, a status of heightened protection afforded under the Endangered Species Act.

The area, which would be the largest ever designated for an Endangered Species Act-listed population, overlaps the territory with the largest existing oil fields in the United States where companies operate and plan to explore more.

Sarah Palin’s Latest Blunder

HoffmanOwensScozzafava

Doug Hoffman (C), Bill Owens (D) and Dede Scozzafava (R) are battling for upstate New York’s 23rd Congressional District.

So Sarah Palin has endorsed a right-wing candidate, Doug Hoffman, running on the Conservative Party line for a House seat in Upstate New York, rebuking a moderate Republican in a forthcoming special election. And while it’s true that Palin’s politics probably mesh better with Hoffman’s, strategically, I have to wonder: What is she thinking?

Sarah’s Secret Diary (Video)

Just a trip down memory lane … classic photo-op interview with Sarah as she explained how her resignation helped Alaska and that fishing with her children teaches them not to be ‘divas’ while waving her freshly manicured nails in Andrea Mitchell’s face … “One term was enough … You’re not listening to me!

Sarah Palin Truth Squad

Dear Diary,

No one understands me. It’s like I’m speaking some Eskimo dialect or something. Andrea Mitchell follows me all the way to Kanakanak Beach and I get a French manicure and set up this huge photo op for her, even though she spooked the salmon.

Todd and me are in our cool fishing bibs. Piper’s helping out on the boat. It’s an amazing day that shows how our Creator favored my beloved Alaska, gatekeeper of the continent, and makes a great shot for all the network reporters up here to milk. This progresses me away from my image as some kind of flaky “rogue diva” and back to my image as a tough huntin’ and fishin’ gal.

But Andrea makes such a darn big deal about how I’m quitting in the middle of my term.

“You’re not listening to me!” I snap.

"Going Rouge – The Sarah Palin Rogue Coloring and Activity Book"

Yeah, yeah, we heard all about the Sarah Palin’s Book Going Rogue – An American Life to be launched on Nov 17th. They expect to move 1.5 million copies, and pre-orders have been brisk.

Alternative Views of Sarah Palin Compete with “Going Rogue” Book Launch

Double Take ... Sarah Palin's memoir "Going Rogue" and "Going Rouge," the progressive alternative.

Double Take ... Sarah Palin's memoir "Going Rogue: An American Life" (left) and "Going Rouge: An American Nightmare," (right) the progressive alternative viewpoint.

For those unable to stomach Sarah Palin‘s forthcoming “mom’s-eye view of high-stakes national politics” Going Rogue, small US publisher OR Books has announced that it will bring out Going Rouge, an alternative view of the former Republican vice-presidential candidate, on the same day.

Parodying the cover of Palin’s memoir (subtitled An American Life), which sees a relaxed-looking Palin in front of a blue, cloud-strewn sky, Going Rouge (subtitled An American Nightmare) places Palin in front of thunderous clouds and lightning.

The book – the title is a reference to the US newsreader who mistakenly called the autobiography Going Rouge – will see a series of contributors examine Palin’s origins in Alaska, her rise in the Republican party, and “the nightmarish prospect of her continuing to dominate the nation’s political scene”, OR Books said. It will be published as a paperback and ebook on 17 November, the same day that Palin’s hardback Going Rogue is due out.

Another spoof, Going RougeThe Sarah Palin Rogue Coloring and Activity Book by cartoonist Julie Sigwart and Micheal Stinson, is also out on 17 November. Featuring mazes (“Help Sarah find her way to the White House”; “Where in the world does domestic Alaskan oil go?”), puzzles and word games, the authors promise to “mercilessly lampoon and parody everything Palin in 48 pages of hilarity”.

“We are environmentally conscious folks, and consider her to be a total threat to ecosystems everywhere, a continuation of the abominable legacy of George W Bush, an epitome of the stereotypical ‘Ugly American’,” Stinson said by email today. He promised that their book “doesn’t just have a buncha words, we’ve got pictures” too.
